Grey Owl

A good friend asked me to make him a grey owl hat and not to show him any photos until he gets his hat in the mail. This is the first adult sized owl I have made and I must confess that I LOVE this hat!! The two tones of grey are subtle and adult appropriate and do not take away any of the fun of having an owl hat; I know he is really going to adore it. It will be dropped in the mail tomorrow and hopefully arrive shortly in time for the cooling weather.
I had a lot of fun making this hat and have been very busy with orders for other things. I have only been advertising my crochet goodies on a FB group page and through word of mouth with family and friends....I have a dozen things to make for the end of the month! I hope to continue making things throughout the winter and all year in fact to build up a supply. There are loads of ideas knocking around in my head that I can't wait to try....but must wait until after the orders are out of the way. So off I go to finish a lavender owl for a baby girl so I can move on to the next thing on the "to crochet" list.

Happy Little Beanie

Here is a picture of my latest make, a ladies beanie hat with removable flower. The flower is just the happiest thing and I think the owner of the hat will get a lot of smiles from it. Per her request, the woman I made the hat for wanted the edge of the hat to come down over her ears to ensure it keeps her warm this winter, that is why the hat looks a little long.

The pattern for the hat can be found here at the lovely Crochet in Color blog. It is worked in hdc rather then dbl stitch which makes for tighter crochet and more warmth.

Appliqué Madness

Little tiny appliqué flowers and critters are so cute and make the most amazing hair buckles! Take a look at the four different styles I have worked on in the past few days. To finish them I will hot glue them to some buckles. The patterns and ideas for these are a combination of free patterns available on Pinterest and my own inventions....take a look! I will post more as they are made...I think there will be quite the collection as a friend of mine wants several to give out to her daughter's friends for Halloween.

Busy, busy...

So....I have been a busy gal today finishing a hat and getting started on two others, one of which is very nearly done. Here is the hat I completed, it is a character hat of Thomas the Train for the 4 year old nephew of a friend of mine. I think it turned out well. The design was based on a basic pattern for an ear flap hat and the face and details based on other Thomas hats I saw on the internet with the addition of buttons which I really like to use as decorations. Buttons are fun and whimsical and I think help to break up all that yarn for added texture and interest.

Hello!

Hello all, my name is Dominique and I am a crafter from Newfoundland in Canada. This is my first blog and I hope to show you the things I am working on, share amazing craft links and blogs with you, and learn along the way.

My craft passion is crochet with all of its yarny goodness. I have been doing crochet baby blankets and hats for years now and have just recently started selling what I make...the response has been good so far and I am busy working away on hats for little heads seeing as the cooler weather has arrived and winter is around the corner. Here are some samples of my work.

I am off for now to go work on some other stuff and will post more pictures when they're done!
